Jack Waller

Jack Waller was enamored with Jazz as a teenager growing up in Montana. His talent got him into the Navy band and after discharge he went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. From Berklee he packed up his sticks, his amiable disposition and his enthusiasm for Jazz and headed to the musical hot spots – Harlem, San Francisco and New York City – where he collaborated and drummed with many of the giant proponents of the genre in clubs, recording studios and was a member of the 1st Jazz Combo to perform at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Jack’s driving beat, best described by Mike Clark as “swinging fat with a greasy feel,” nailed the tempo for such notables as Howard McGhee, Chet Baker, Buddy DeFranco, Bill Doggett, Herb Ellis, Vince Guaraldi, Milt Jackson, Bud Shank and more.

Jack continues to perform and teach.
